Maternal Child Health (MCH) programs offer comprehensive support throughout pregnancy for expected mothers, their children and families living on reserve. The goal of the program is to enhance the growth and development of Indigenous infants and young children, and to foster the healthiest mothers and families possible. The services provided through the MCH program are holistic.

PRENATAL & POSTNATAL SERVICES
Home Visits
Postnatal home visits for maternal health provide essential support and guidance to expecting and new mothers, ensuring personalized care and addressing specific needs in the comfort of their own homes, ultimately promoting healthier outcomes for both mother and child.
Services for parent:
- Mental health checkup and referrals as needed
- Traditional parenting with trained instructor
- Car Seat and Child Safety
Services for child:
- Weighing baby
- Oral health care fluoride varnishing for children 0 – 7 years of age
If you are a parent and have particular needs we can address these in the home visit and tailor our time with you to meet the needs of you, and your family.
Prenatal Education & Retreats
Prenatal education involves providing expecting parents, and community members with essential information and resources to prepare them for pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenthood.
About this service:
- This service is typically delivered once a year
- Three days long and offers a comprehensive overview of early parenthood

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a lifelong condition resulting from prenatal exposure to alcohol, leading to a range of physical, cognitive, and behavioral diversity. Individuals with FASD may experience difficulties with learning, memory, attention, and social interactions, highlighting the importance of prevention efforts and early intervention strategies.

Canadian Prenatal Nutrition Program (CPNP)
The Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program (CPNP) provides funding to community groups to help to improve the health of pregnant women, new mothers and their babies, who face challenges that put their health at risk. The Public Health Agency of Canada currently funds 236 CPNP projects serving over 45,000 pregnant people, parents and caregivers across Canada each year.
Services:
Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program (CNPC) coupons for registered prenatal/ breastfeeding clients of Willow Cree Health Services.
- Coupons can be used for any of the green categories to purchase any of the yellow items included in the appendix 1
- Coupons will be issued every two weeks
- These coupons are not to exceed the limit of $300.00
Terms of use:
- Any overages above $300.00 are the financial responsibility of the client. Overages beyond $5.00 must be paid for by the client on a separate bill.
- There will be no replacing any misplaced, lost, or damaged coupons
- All receipts will be reviewed to ensure items purchased are within the guidelines in appendix 1

This service is provided in collaboration with the Food and Nutrition department
Children’s Oral Health Initiative (COHI)
The Children’s Oral Health Initiative (COHI) is an early childhood tooth decay prevention program aimed at children aged 0 to 7, their caregivers and pregnant women living on-reserve or accessing on-reserve resources.
Services:
- Fluoride varnishing on children ages 0 – 7 in home or, office.
